Inaugural Festival Lumières Lausanne
November 23, 2012
to January 2, 2013
The
First ever Lausanne Festival of Light - Festival Lumières Lausanne
- will
present gigantic works of art using light in its various forms as the
main component set in symbolic luminous venues around the
center of city, where . visitors and locals will be able to discover
the wondrous installations at leisure, on foot or with their families,
along
with
the annual traditional Christmas
Market and its assorted attractions. A delight for young and old alike.
The Lausanne Opera Renewed
October 5, 2012.
After 2 years of work, the famousLausanne Opera returns with an inaugural
production, “L’elisir d’amore”. A creation
of Gaetano Donizetti, staged by Adriano Sinivia and supported by the
Lausanne Chamber Orchestra and directed by Jesus Lopez Cobos. The Lausanne
Opera has completed its major renovation begun 2010, completely rebuilt
by the architects Devanthéry and
Lamunière.
Le Lausanne Chocolate
Lausanne has now its own chocolate! Following its wiining entry in
the competition at the ”Semaine du Goût” the La Maison
Manuel, founded in 1845, offers a delicious chocolate with cassis, named
after the city where it was born. Le Lausanne is now the city’s
official candy ! It can be tasted and purchased at the Confiserie Tony,
at Rue de Bourg 39 in Lausanne.
41st Lausanne International Ballet Competition for Young Dancers
So, you think you can dance? Since 1973, the world’s best young
ballet dancers gather at the Théâtre de Beaulieu for one
of the most sought after scholarships that will enable them to realize
their dreams of becoming a professional dancer. The 41st International
Ballet Competition for young dancers, will be held from January 27 to
February 2, 2013. Throughout the week of the competition, visitors to
Lausanne can attend in person to admire from the theater seats these
young and talented artists during auditions open to the public. Ballet
